Lovely Early 20th Century Romanian Gypsy Blouse with

Lavish Hand Embroidery & Beadwork!

The Blouse is Off White Rayon Crepe, with the Embroidery being worked in Cotton Floss, on Black Stripes with delicate bars and X's in tones of Purple, red, pink & blue with the beadwork separating each motif.  

The Beadwork is done in Gold crystal glass beads, and literally is in between every embroidery section, so the gold you see in the pictures is the beadwork which has 

a sort of double chevron pattern.. 

   The  Huge Puffy Sleeves are really wonderful on this blouse.  There are large Solid Embroidery Sections on Each Sleeve, with the stripes stitched together at the bottom to form a solid embroidery Cuff, with Mother of Pearl Buttons.  It has a wonderful Medieval look!  There is a front neck opening, and a Pretty twisted Silk tasseled cord tie that makes the neckline adjustable.

This Blouse is in very Good Condition for it's age.  There are the expected small pinholes, repairs and 3 small patches. Also some light fading of the black embroidery in a few spots, and a bit of bleed on the right sleeve back underarm.  Also a bit of tan speckling above the rear hem. Overall it shows wonderfully, and would be a joy to wear or display!
